What the Northland Business Expo is all about!
The Northland Business Expo is the brainchild of Mitch & Shirley Weimer of BizBuilders Limited. Inspired by the Small Business Expo in Auckland, Mitch & Shirley approached the Northland Chamber of Commerce about having a business Expo for Northland back in 2008. While the Chamber wasn't ready to put on an Expo, they were happy to get on board to support the initiative. Two years later the Expo is the largest B2B marketing event in Northland and has become a mainstay for Northland business networking for years to come.
Marketing the Northland Business Expo
Through our Gold Sponsors: The Northern Advocate, MediaWorks Radio and Channel North TV the Expo runs a marketing campaign through newspaper, radio and television that exceeds over $75,000 in value! The marketing campaign also includes email marketing through the Northland Chamber of Commerce and BizBuilders Limited databases. Marketing also includes two separate pamphlet drops to the 3000 Business Post Office Box holders throughout Northland along with banner advertising, brochures and billboard signage. A major visitor drawcard is the BizBooster Package Grand Prize, hourly spot prizes along with over 10,000 entry tickets given out last year to booth holders as gifts for their clients to stimulate foot traffic to the Expo.

Growth & Development
The second annual Northland Business Expo was an experience of doubling. The Expo almost doubled the attendance at the 2 day event in 2010. The 2010 BizBooster Package prize increased from $15,000.00 in 2009 to over $30,00.00 in products and services.

The Northland Business Expo has previously run seminars over the two days of the Expo. These have covered everything from working with the IRD to utilizing CRM Databases in your business.

Networking and Booth Awards Evening
All Booth holders are invited to attend the Networking and Booth Awards eveing. The Booth Awards are a fun and competitive part of the Expo! Each year Booth holders have competed against each other to win our esteemed awards! The booths are judged on the friday during the Expo, winners are chosen and the Booth Awards are given out at the Friday night networking evening. Booth holders have an opportunity to mix and mingle with each other, giving them another opportunity to network together in a more relaxed setting.
Spot Prizes
Spot Prizes were won over both days of the Expo every hour on the hour. These prizes were donated by booth holders at the Expo and were won by those that fill out the BizBooster Package form. Forms can be completed as you enter the Expo.
$30,000 BizBooster Grand Prize
The 2009 Expo’s BizBooster (won by John Hewinson Canvas) was worth just over $15,000.00 while the 2010 BizBooster surpassed $30,000.00. Trevor Huett of CAD Partners was the auspicious recipient! Trevor has been involved in both of the Expo’s and will be able to attend next year’s Expo free of charge with his free Expo booth courtesy of the BizBooster Package Grand Prize.
Community Trusts and Non Profit Organisations
The Expo cares about organisations that support the community. Over the last two years a number of booths have been set aside for Community Trusts and Non Profit Organisations. We see this as an opportunity for the Expo to give back into our community. Our Sponsors were given the opportunity to nominate an organisation to participate in the Expo. We have been delighted at the response of these organisations to be given the ability to showcase what they do and to show businesses how they can get involved.
Health and Safety Area & "Climb to the Top" Competition!
At the 2011 Northland Business Expo we will be featuring a fun interactive Health and Safety area . If you would like to be involved in this area please let us know.
Or simply come along and try your skill at the Climbing wall competition!
Emerging Businesses
The Expo is interested in new businesses. This last year we created an area with affordable booths for those that qualified for the Emerging Business section. An Emerging Business is a business that is 18 months old or younger at the time of booking their booth.

The main emphasis of the Northland Business Expo is to strengthen the community within the business sector of Northland. The BizBooster Package and the Northland Business Expo itself are awesome examples of what can happen when business people get together and work for the good of their community.
